Article 1: Girls Capture Top Y, RA, ICA Posts / Victory Announced Friday Evening / Harriet Frances Davis, Judith May Carson, and Ethel Joan Armstrong have been elected to fill major posts on campus as presidents of YWCA, RA, and ICA, respectively. / Harriet, the new YWCA president, is a home economics major from Beckley, West Virginia. She is vice president and social service chairman of YWCA, and a member of the home economics club and RA bowling committee. She is a member of Pi Delta Gamma. / Judy, newly elected president of RA, is a physical education major from Lynch Station. She is vice president of RA and chairman of RA volleyball. She is an honor counsellor. / Ethel, new ICA president is an art ajor from Lancaster, Pennsylvania. She is president of Terrapins, secretary of the MWC band and hockey chairman on RA council. / Others who ran for these office include Nancy Pida for RA and Rosalyn Murray for ICA. / Election of the SGA executive officers and the NSA coordinator are next on the schedule. Publicity for these offices will take place during the week of March 2-6 and the voting will be March 6 in the dormitories from 9a.m. to 4p.m. / Linda Lee Gulnac, Adair Garner, and Kathryn E. Barret are running for Judicial vice-president of SGA. Linda is a member of the Mary Washington Chorus, Outing Club, and Psychology Club. She is a freshman counselor and was a member of the Welfare Committee, Linda, a psychology major, is from Mendham, New Jersey. Adair, a psychology major, from Bayside, is president of Betty Lewis dorm. She was a member of the SGA Christmas Committee, SGA Purpose Committee, and the Orientaton Committee for second semester. Adair was MWC’s delegate to the NSA regional conference. Kay, a sociology major from Alexandria, is a member of the Battlefield copy staff. She has been house council treasurer, a student aide, and is presently serving as president of Willard dorm. / Beth C. Wharton, Betsy Ross Johnson, Courtney Anne Lawson, Nan Rae Marion, and Nancy Sims LaPrade are candidates for Legislative vice-president of SGA. Beth is a chemistry major from Norfold and is secretary of the junior class. Beth was also secretary of Mason Dorm. Betsy, a biology major, is from Hopewell. She has been both vice-president and president of Mason Dorm and is president of Virginia Dorm. A member of Chi Beta Phi, she has been freshman commissioner and a member of the Campus Worship Committee of the YWCA. Betsy has also been a May Day participant and an honor counselor. Nan is a philosophy major. Nancy is a biology major from Richmond. She is a member of Chi Beta Phi and Alpha Phi Sigma. She was sophomore class vice-president and received Intermediate honors. / Running for Secretary of SGA are Patricia Batten Garrison, Dabney Scott Limpscomb, Elizabeth Dexter Caudle, and Mary Louisa “Weezie” Wells. Pat, a and Chi Beta Phi. Pat is also biology major from Smithfield, is a member of Phi Sigma Iota and Chi Beta Phi. Pat is also chairman of the Campus Social Committee and was sophomore class Welfare Committee Chairman. She has been vice-president of Mason dorm, junior class usher, and a handbook major is from Jackson, Mississippi. She is treasurer, a freshman counselor, member of the Canterbury Club and president of Framer. Betty, a freshman counselor, member of the Newman Club, and feature writer for the Bullet, is a math major from Richmond. “Weezie,” who is a pre-foreign service major, is from New York, New York. She is representative from MWC to the Peace Corps. / The three girls running for treasure of SGA are Susan Ellitt LeFevre, Patsy Louise Ballou, and Beverly Jean Sangston. Susan, who is a freshman counselor and a member of Chi Beta Phi, is a chemistry major from Lancaster, Pennsylvania. She was historian of the Terrapin Club, sophomore and junior class usher, and a member of the May Day Committee. Patsy is a match major from Princess Anne and is a member of Alpha Phi Sigma and Chi Beta Phi. She is assistant to the May Day chairman and a freshman counselor. Bev, a sociology major from Chevy Chase, Maryland is president of Randolph dorm, chairman of the Grace Minutes committee, on the Battlefield advertising staff and the May Day committee. She has been chairman of the home management committee in Marshall.
