Article 1: Campus-Wide Elect[ion] / Presidents Selected For Six Dormitories / House Presidents for the freshman dormitories and for Tri Unit for the 1962-63 session have been chosen. / Betty Gregory, Barbara Harper, and Bonnie Ramsay all of Mason Dormitory were elected Presidents of the freshman dormitories on Monday, March 12, at the legislative council meeting of Student Government. / Betty Gregory will be President of Willard Dorm. Betty is an English major and she plans to teach in the public high schools of Virginia after graduation. Betty has been active in the Home Economics Club on campus, has acted as a big sister. She is a Dean’s List student. / Barbara Harper, the new President of Betty Lewis Dorm, wants to go into social work after graduation. She acted as President of Betty Lewis last spring after the election of Pat Newman to the Presidency of S.G.A. / Bonnie Ramsay will be President of Virginia Dorm. Bonnie would like to teach Home Economics after graduation. She acted as Points Chairman of the Home Economics Club, is a member of Alpha Phi Sigma. She is a Dean’s List student. / The presidents of Tri-Unit were elected at a junior class meeting on Wednesday, March 14. / Tabbie deButts, a junior from Washington D.C., will head Ball dorm. A clothing and textiles major, Tabbie is a freshman counselor in Willard this year. She is in charge of the junior class project the Fashion Show and is one of the chairmen in charge of May Day dresses. / Beth Commander Wharton, a chemistry major from Norfolk, is next year’s president of Custis dorm. Also a junior, Beth is secretary of the junior class and business manager of the Battlefield. She is on the May Day committee. Last year, sheserved as secretary of Mason dorm. / Susan Shaphard Hughes, a junior from Winter Haven, Florida, will be the president of Madison dorm. Sue, a sociology major, is treasurer of the junior class. In her freshman and sophomore years, she was RA dorm representative and this year is on the RA council. This year she is also a Handbook counsellor and a Class Usher.

Article 2: Lukehart Heads May Day Plans / Plans for the 1962 May Day program to be held May 5, have begun with the selection of Sue Lukehart as chairman. Sue is a senior home economics major from Alexandria and at the present time she is practice teaching at Spotsylvania High School. Last year Sue was publicity chairman for May Day. / Several changes have been made in the presentation preparations. Mrs. Emily Holloway, the assistant bursar, is the new advisor. The election for members of the court will be completely handled by the May Day committee instead of by the Battlefield. The entire program for 1962 will be student directed. / Committee chairmen for the May Day program have been announced. They are: publicity, Vi Olson; dress selection, Diane Lovewell and Tabby DeButts; refreshments, Susan LeFever; usher, Pam Ponds; programs, Mary Page Burden; court training, Sue Grandy. Several other committee chairmen remain to be selected. Patsy Ballou is assistant chairman. / The theme for May Day will be revealed at a later date.
