Item 2:Rosalyn Murray, President of the / College Club Section, VHEA and a student / at Mary Washington, has been nominated / as Virginia’s candidate for Second / Vice Chairman, AHEA.
Article 1: Murray Receives State Nomination For NHEA Post / The College Clubs of the Virginia Home Economics Association have nominated Rosalyn Lee Murray as their candidate for second vice chairman from the southern region of the College Clubs Section, National Home Economics Association. She is the state’s one nominee for this office, having been chosen from a group of which two other girls were a part representing Madison and Longwood. The final election will take place in June. / Rosalyn, a junior, is studying vocational home economics. At present, she is president of the college club section of the Virginia Home Economics Association and is treasurer of the Mary Washington Home Economics Club. Rosalyn was the southern region’s nominee last year for secretary on the national level. She is serving also this year as vice-president of the Inter-Club Association on campus. / The Virginia Home Economics Association includes nine affiliated college club sections of which Mary Washington is one. A requirement for a national office is that the student be a home economics major in an accredited four-year college or university granting a degree in home economics, in the United States.

Article 2: Home Economics Club Sponsors Silver Judging Competition in Dorms / The MWC Home Economics Club is sponsoring Reed and Barton’s annual “Silver Opinion Contest” on campus this year. A student’s taste in harmonizing silver, china, and crystal designs ma win her a scholarship or a silver prize. / Scholarships ranging from $100 to $500 will be awarded. Competition is open to undergraduate women at colleges and universities across America during the months of February and March. / Jackie Williams is MWC coordinator of the contest. Each dorm on campus has two representatives who have entry blanks for interested students. In Ball are Lyn Hagman and Betty Lee; in Westmoreland, Gail Harris and Rosalyn Murray; in Randolph, Caroline Ridgely and Sara Page Cosby; in Mason, Jeanne Fornes and Bonnie Morrison; in Virginia, Marie Alford and Judy Foster; in Willard, Madeline Rouzie and Clara Middleton; in Betty Lewis, Betty Smith; in Marshall, Eileen Farley and Pat Bowen; and in Bushnell, Caronline Hippert and Nancy Richardson. Sheila Holt is in charge of all small dorms. / Last year MWC had a winner in this contest. Carolyn Pollard, a junior, won a $50 place setting for her entry.
