Article 1: Mortar Board Taps 15; / Ashelford Top Soph / Fifteen Mary Washington College juniors have been selected for membership in the Mary Washington College Chapter of Mortar Board, National Senior Honor Society for women students. / The new initiates were tapped by senior members of Mortar Board during an annual ceremony held here Monday, April 18. / Also, Miss Mary Ellen Ashelford of Oxford, Connecticut, was named outstanding sophomore by the active members of the local honor group. / Membership in Mortar Board is based on outstanding leadership, scholarship, and service to the College. / The new members are:
Article 2: MARY ELIZABETH BARTHA / --daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Bartha, 502 Mansion Drive, Hopewell, Virginia, 1963 graduate of Hopewell High School. Member of Home Economics Club and Circulations Staff of THE BATTLEFIELD (yearbook); Member of Alpha Phi Sigma (National Honorary Scholastic Fraternity) and Kappa Omicron Phi (National Honorary Home Economics Fraternity); President of Betty Lewis Hall.
Article 3: Linda Thorpe, ICA president, also took oathe of office.
Article 4: Of the 94 Dean’s List Scholars, 13 achieved perfect 3.0 averages. These girls are Mary artha, Carolyn Bogan, Carolyn Eldred, Martha Lindsay, Yvonne March, Mary Morris, Linda Potter, Virginia Showalter, Susan Spencer, Barbara Sweeny, Judith Wells, Mary Whitworth, and Martha Winfrey
Article 5: BATTLEFIELD EDITORS—Mary Bartha will edit the 1967 BATTLEFIELD
