Image 1: CONVENTION GET-TOGETHER—Mrs. Lillian Mabe, home economist for the Virginia Electric & Power Co. here, looks over convention program with Mrs. Lena E. Bowman of Staunton, executive of the Dairy Council of Shenandoah-Rappahannock, left; and Mrs. Ernestine B. McCollum of Baltimore, luncheon speaker.
Article 2: Student, Professor Elected To State Home Ec Posts / A Mary Washington Student and her professor were elected to state posts at a joint convention over the weekend of the Virginia Home Economics Association and the Virginia Dietetic Association at Roanoke. / Miss Jacquelyn Williams was elected state president of the college Club Section. Mrs. Mildred Jamison, assistant professor of home economics, was elected sponsor of the state college clubs. / Among the speakers was Mrs. Eruestine B. McCollum, associciate professor of Biochemistry, School of Hygiene and Public Health, the Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore. She spoke at the opening session luncheon. In developing her topic, “Latest Advances in Nutrition” she declared that it is unsafe for the general public to change the diet pattern established by the Food and Nutrition Council of the American Medical Association. She said the fat and cholesterol scare as related to coronary disease is only one factor involved and is a problem for the physician and not the general public. / Others attending the convention from here were: Miss Mary Hanna Jones, Mrs. Lucy Link, Miss Mary Mason, Mrs. Louise Cooley, Miss Kathleen Goodloe, Mrs. Lillian Mabe, and Mrs. Carl Hicks. / Also, the following Mary Washington College girls, Anne Reynolds, Clara Middleton, Ann Rasmussen, Jacquelyn Williams, Patricia Bowen, Madeline Rouzie and Sue Arthur.
