Item 1: February1, 1969 / Mary Washington Young Republican Club / In Care of Miss Nikki Fowler / Mary Washington College / Fredericksburg, Virginia / Ladies: / Approximately six months ago when I first became your eighth district representative, John Adams and I had a three hour discussion on my new appointment. He told me of the problems I could expect and where to obtain help. The Mary Washington Y. R. Club was on the top of his list. Now it is on the top of my list. / You have accomplished quite a bit this year. I am sure we will all remember the great victories in 1968. What about the Scott Rally at the Sheraton? No one who attended will ever forget that evening. You have much of which to be proud; and I would be the first to admit the Fredericksburg area Republicans could not get along without the Mary Washington girls. You were also instrumental in obtaining recognition for the YR’s in our district; in fact, Jack Middleton has told me many times what a wonderful job the Mary Washington Club has done. Thanks for a job well done have also come from Sam Embrey, Fredericksburg Chairman, Lindy Fritter, Stafford Chairman, Floyd Chewning, Spotsylvania Chairman and Congressman Bill Scott. / I would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every member of the Mary Washington College YR’s not only for your help to me, but also for the outstanding work done for our Republican candidate. / Sincerely, / Carrol L.
