Item 1: Emergency newsletter:
Item 2: Keep the ball rolling
Item 1: To: All MWC Young Republicans / From: Nikki Fowler, Chairman / As a community project, our club is sponsoring a drive for the American Cancer Society though December 16th, next Monday. There is a cup for donations in YOUR dorm office. Please remember, this is the season to go broke…please give! / Anyone interested in a ski weekend with the rest of the State YRs at Bryce’s Mountain Resort, Bayse, Va. over semester break (Jan. 31-Feb. 1 or Feb. 7-9) please contact Nikki Fowler at ext. 442 by this Friday, Dec. 13th. The cost of $30.00 includes Fri. and Sat. night lodging at bunkhouse, breakfast Sat. and Sun, dinner Sat., and unlimited use of lifts and rentals Sat. and Sun. / YR State Convention this year is Feb. 14-16 in Richmond at Hotel John Marshall. Election of state YR and College YR officers will be held then. Awards for the year, a banquet, education in politics, great parties and opportunities to meet other YRs (all YRs are wonderful people, you know!)…what more could you want? Okay, the club helps delegates and alternates with expenses and arranging transportation! (Anyone who goes must have paid dues; if you’re not elected a delegate, you’re automatically an alternate if you go!) Anyone interested must submit a written application to Marti Blair, 108 Westmoreland (or someone who can give the form to Marti, like a member of the executive board!) According to the Constitution (YR) half the delegates are elected by the exec board and half at a popular club meeting by the members. Our club membership is now over 330, so we will have at least 35 votes at the convention (2 for being a club and 1 vote for every 10 members.) There is still time (until December 15) to get more members to increase the size of our delegate vote. Call Evelyn DeZerne IMMEDIATELY, if not sooner if you know of any student here who wishes to join at ext. 423. / There will be an IMPORTANT meeting Tues. Jan 7 at 6:30 P.M. in Monroe 21 to elect the club’s half of the MWC delegation to State Convention. Please attend to represent yourself if interested in going as a delegate or to see that the delegates elected represent YOU. An MWC Y will probably run for state office again this year, so you’ll be supporting club interests in the delegates YOU select, too. / Make sure YOU have paid our $1.50 dues. Theywere pledged to have been paid by Dec. 1, 1968. Call Evelyn DeZerne if you’re not sure if ou paid and want to check. (ext. 423) / If yo have any questions, call me, Nikki, at ext. 442. / MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR…..
