Item 1: Congressman Buchanon / Congressman Buchanon was brought on campus by the / MWC YRs in cooperation with Region III CYRs. The / program was co-sponsored by the Student Government / Association and supported and encouraged by the / political science department. Mr. Buchanon’s speech / was scheduled just prior to the election in / consultation with the local Senior Party in an attempt / to dispel the fears of local residents regarding Baptist / ministries in politics. (Our candidate, Paige A. Young, / is a local Baptist minister). Buchanon was well received / by an audience of approximately 150 and his / appearance was thought to be of some help to / Paige Young’s campaign.
