Item 1: MEMBERSHIP PROGRAM / The membership program this year is set up as a coordinated effort between the membership committee and the Treasurer of the club. The job of the membership committee is to actively recruit the members, and the job of the treasurer (in accordance with the constitution) is to keep the membership role and to collect the dues. Therefore, once the member is signed up on the application, the form should be turned in to the treasurer as soon as possible for the official listing and the collection of dues (which will in practicality be done with the assistance of the dorm representatives on the membership committee) / In order to facilitate the membership drive dorm quotas have been set by taking into consideration the membership from each dorm last year, and also calculating the number of residents in each dormitory. In doing this, I feel that the dorm quotas are all reasonable and attainable. They are as follow: / VIRGINIA 50 / WILLARD 40 / BETTY LEWIS 15 / BUSHNELL 30 / THOMAS JEFFERSON 30 / WESTMORELAND 20 / TRI-UNIT 40/MARSHALL 20 / RUSSELL 30 / MASON 25 / RANDOLPH 25 / FRAMAR 10 / We will also, of course, recruit membership in the smaller dorms, but have not set quotas. / As you can see, if all of these quotas are met, we will surpass our goal of 300 members. / The second phase of this program would be the possible establishment of an award for the dormitory that does outstanding work in recruiting Young Republicans. I would propose that the award be given to the dormitory that gets the largest percentage of it’s residents to become dues-paying members of the club. The award could be (as an example) a special trip to D.C. for the members in that dormitory and a meeting with Jack McDonald, the Young Republican National Chairman, and Congressman Bill Scott, and perhaps a special tour with Congressman Scott of the Capitol. / I ask the Executive Board to consider this proposal. / Bari Anne Holden/Chairman.
