Item 1: PROPOSED CONSTITUTION WITH REVISIONS/MWC YOUNG REPUBLICAN CLUB / PROPOSED BY: COMMITTEE ON PLATFORM AND LEGISLATION / BARBARA BAILEY, CHAIRMAN / ARTICLE I – NAME / The name of this organization shall be the Mary Washington College Young Republican Club, herein and after referred to as the “Club”. / ARTICLE II – PURPOSES / SECTION 1 – To bring Mary Washington students into the Republican Party and to provide them the opportunity to find political expression and recognition. / SECTION 2 – To encourage participation in the activities of the Republican Party and to promote its ideals. / SECTION 3 – To collect, discuss and disseminate information concerning political affairs. / SECTION 4 – To coordinate the activities of all Republicans on campus. / ARTICLE III – MEMBERSHIP / SECTION 1 – Membership in this organization shall be limited to those who are duly registered students of Mary Washington College, have paid current club dues, are willing to support the principles of the Republican Party, and will adhere to the purposes of this organization as stated in Article II. / SECTION 2 – Any member may be suspended or expelled from membership in the club by a two-thirds vote of the full Executive Board, after an opportunity is given for a hearing before said Board, for conduct or declarations contrary to the constituio[n] of this club. An appeal by said member may be presented at the next regular meeting of the Club and said appeal must be ratified by a majority of the members present in order to overrule the Board. / ARTICLE IV – OFFICERS / SECTION 1 – The officers of this Club shall be: Chairman, Vice-Chairman, Recording Secretary, Corresponding Secretary, and Treasurer. They shall be elected for a term of one year and shall serve until their successor is chosen. / SECTION 2 – Any officer may be impeached by a petition bearing the signature of 5[0]% of the membership and shall be removed by 2/3rds decision of those members present at a regular club meeting. / SECTION 3 – The duties of the officers shall be as prescribed in the By-Laws. / SECTION 4 – Officers shall be elected in a manner prescribed in the By-Laws. / SECTION 5 – A vacancy occurring in any elected offi[ce] between annual meetings shall be filled by appointment of the Executive Board. / ARTICLE V – EXECUTIVE BOARD / SECTION 1 – The Executive Board shall be composed of the elected officers of the club, all standing committee chairmen, and all past club Chairmen, providing that they are all members of the club in good standing. / SECTION 2 – The Executive Board shall meet at least once every month during the regular school year at the call of the Chairman or by written petition of a majority of the Executive Board. / SECTION 3 – The Executive Board shall have sole power to appropriate funds for all bills incurred by the club.
